Technology is always progressing. Last year I saw this great video from Gorilla Glass manufacturer Corning about the technology of Touch Screen that really blew me out : A Day Made Of Glass

And then the annual CES 2012, Samsung release this great applicable technology to a window :

I mean, wow! This technology can really help us out in many aspect : medical, daily life, etc. It still has problems, like enormous amount of bandwidth it needed and so on. But I think it will happen in the near future.

Yet, like every other technology, this will open new opportunity for criminal too, or maybe some abuse that will damage its benefit. I hope human can handle this.

Yes, I saw this smartphone concept, and it made me feel that we can still dream and innovate on smartphone. The design concept is really fresh and innovative, different than any other design i ever see. Well, just see it for yourself

The Mozilla Seabird, part of the Mozilla Labs’ Concept Series, is an experiment in how users might interact with their mobile content as devices and technology advances. Drawing on insights culled from the Mozilla community through the project’s blog, a focus quickly developed around frustrating physical interactions. While mobile CPUs, connectivity and development platforms begin approaching that of desktops, the lagging ability to efficiently input information has grown ever more pronounced.

The SeaBird Concept offers many new ways of User Interaction. Like this IR keyboard, it free up the monitor space by displaying keyboard in surrounding. I knew about the IR keyboard, but I never thought of it in a one smartphone.

Next is the Pico Projector, this maybe the one feature that is still the same way like another design. The Seabird, on just a flat surface, enables netbook-quality interaction by working with the projector’s angular distortion to deliver interface, rather than content. With the benefit of a dock, each projector works independently and delivers laptop levels of efficiency.

The design also amaze me as it really different from common smartphone design nowadays. It feels aerodynamic. It made me want to try to grip it

Another Social Network in this era? Is it just too late? or do we really need another social network? Yes, Google officialy announced Google+ Project.

Google+ is a another social network project by Google (it’s a project, not a product). Remember Google Wave? It shut down a while ago. I think Google Wave is just to modern when it came out. And now, learning from that experience, Google release Google+, A weird name (just like +1) yet raising some hopes and questions among us, can it challenge Facebook? In their minds, Google+ is more than a social product, or even a social strategy, it’s an extension of Google itself. Hence, Google+.

Among the most basic of human needs is the need to connect with others. With a smile, a laugh, a whisper or a cheer, we connect with others every single day. Today, the connections between people increasingly happen online. Yet the subtlety and substance of real-world interactions are lost in the rigidness of our online tools. In this basic, human way, online sharing is awkward. Even broken. And we aim to fix it. We’d like to bring the nuance and richness of real-life sharing to software. We want to make Google better by including you, your relationships, and your interests. And so begins the Google+ project.

Okay, so let’s try to get to know it more detail :

+Circles

Circles is people group. Just like List in Twitter, and Groups in Facebook. You can choose which circle to view the timeline, and so on. But there’s something different with Circles than List or Groups, it’s more fun and has better UI on it. Circles is the core of the Google+.

Sparks is just like trending topics in Twitter. It’s an online sharing engine that can delivers a feed of highly contagious content from across the Internet. On any topic you want, in over 40 languages. Simply add your interests, and you’ll always have something to watch, read and share—with just the right circle of friends.

+Hangouts

Hangouts is a live multi-person video chat, Hangouts lets you stop by when you’re free, and spend time with your Circles. Face-to-face-to-face.

+Mobile

The mobile experience is important these days. With Google+ you can add your location to every post. (Or not. It’s always up to you.) While you’re snapping pictures, and with your permission, Google+ adds your photos to a private album in the cloud. Coordinating with friends and family in real-time is really hard in real life. After all, everyone’s on different schedules, in different places, and plans can change at any moment. Phone calls and text messages can work in a pinch, but they’re not quite right for getting the gang together. So Google+ includes Huddle, a group messaging experience that lets everyone inside the circle know what’s going on, right this second.

Oh and one thing I forgot is the Google +1 features that we acknowledged months ago will also be in everywhere in Google+. They said that this project is still just a small picture of even bigger picture they have. I will definitely sign up (although is hasn’t been out for my country just yet) and invites all my friend to use it.

Google is beginning to roll it out today, but it will only be a very limited field trial. You can get it in android market or go straight to Google+ web to request some invitation.

Finally, as promised by LG last year, they announce the LG Optimus 3D, the first 3D smartphone (with no special glasses).

3D has become usual in our technology. Although, it hasn’t been that much attached to our daily life, as the hardware and the content both are still rare. The LG Optimus 3D has dual 5 MP Camera to capture 3D images or videos. The content can be viewed as 3D data and also 2D data. It also has the HDMI cable to connect to 3D TV. The 3D videos can also be uploaded into YouTube 3D (LG also announced a partnership with Google’s video sharing service).

It only just the preproduction though, for those who want to buy it will have to wait until this July. But again, like I said, 3D hasn’t been that much attached to our daily life, this smartphone may come out a little bit earlier.
