I just stumbled upon the concept designs above of a new kind of traffic light by Thanva Tivawong called “The Sand Glass”
The Sand Glass is a new look at traffic lights. Surely people must be frustrated with the current design. LED lights trickle down to make an obvious statement, regarding the time left for the lights to change. Easy and intuitive. This is still a design though, but i think it’s better than the current design. Just see it for yourself :

Around 7% of US males are red-green colorblind. With the current traffic light design, the position of the lights tells the colorblind driver whether to go or stop. With this design, the colorblind driver will end up getting someone killed as the red and green states are indistinguishable.
Well, it’s still a design, among other designs.
